Turning point of the season?!

Last week would probably rate among the worst weeks for the club in the recent past. Especially since we suffered consecutive defeats at the hands of Chelsea and Liverpool! And the result against Liverpool was made worse by the lack of fight we displayed in the game; it was reminiscent of our display against Barcelona in the Champions league final a few seasons ago! Disgraceful is the word that comes to mind!!

The performance against Liverpool was pathetic, and as Si Alex said, there can be no excuses for such a poor display! The Scousers were the better team on the night and deserved to get all three points. The defeat against the Scousers couldn’t have come at a worse time, though it was a big blow, luckily, the stuttering form of the Gunners has ensured that its effect has been minimal.

Most of us are still smarting from the past week and it will be a while before we can get over that memory! So the best thing to do is to look forward to the next game and continue to cheer on the team like true fans, and hope the players can get their act together!

So the next match, ironically against the Gunners in the FA cup is of massive importance for us. Meanwhile, Arsenal also come into this game following a thorough thrashing at the Camp nou at the hands of Barcelona; The Gunners were outclassed in every part of the pitch by the European Champions and were given a firsthand lesson in the art of playing beautiful football, something they profess to have mastered!

So in a way, the FA cup game has become a game neither team can afford to lose but also must try to win too! Though an F.A cup fixture, a victory for either team could have a massive effect on their confidence and momentum going into the final weeks of the season. So a win for either team could add galvanize the respective title challenges!

As far as United is concerned, there’s no better person to ensure that we respond to the setbacks of the past week with aplomb than Sir Alex! He’s sure to put out a team that will go for a win, and if the players can play to the best of their ability, defeating the Gunners won’t be a very difficult task!

This Saturday’s fixture against Arsenal could have a massive impact on the rest of the season and possibly shift the momentum and maybe even the tag of “favorites for the title” to the winner! This is the perfect stage for United to rise to the occasion and prove to the world why we are among the best in the world!!
